10 Introvert Myths Invented By Shy People

It’s haaard to be an introvert in our modern society. 😉

Everything from our schools, to workplaces, to the “heroes” you see on TV… all seem to promote being a loud extrovert as the ideal for everyone.

So in the past few years, there’s been a reaction to this mainstream “extrovert ideal.” With an explosion of online articles and books about “the power of introverts.” These books encouraged introverts to understand themselves so they wouldn’t feel guilty about not being as social as other people.

And I think overall these books were a good thing, but they did make some mistakes, which I want to clear up.

Many people (including best-selling authors) confuse being an introvert with shyness, social anxiety, or a lack of social skills. The video above will show you the truth, click on it to play it now.

In the video, I list 10 introvert myths. (That were probably invented by shy people.)

Here they are:

  1. Introverts are uncomfortable in social situations
  2. Introverts are quiet and withdrawn
  3. You can tell who’s an introvert based on how they act around people
  4. It’s better to be an introvert (smarter and deeper thinkers)
  5. Introverts are complex sensitive souls
  6. Extroverts are shallow
  7. Introverts are socially inept
  8. Introverts don’t like going out of the house
  9. Extroverts are bad listeners
  10. Introverts can’t be leaders or public speakers
